Most people are probably familiar with tiny homes — compact dwellings that prioritize space-saving and affordability over big homes with high mortgage rates. Well, for fans of the style of alternative housing, Las Vegas-based company Boxabl has launched its flagship tiny home: the Casita.
The Boxabl Casita is a 20×20 foot and 9.6 feet high rectangular accessory dwelling unit. It’s complete with a full kitchen, bathroom, living room space and bedroom section — and perhaps most enticingly, it can be set up in just one day. At $50,000, it is an affordable option for future homeowners.
But these aren’t the only major features of the small home. The Casita is designed to be ready for immediate use and includes a slew of appliances like a large fridge, microwave, washer and dryer, heating and air conditioning and ironing center.
Boxabl also claims the Casita is more durable and weather-resistant than other similar units.
“Boxabl buildings are more durable and energy efficient than traditional homes. They are built using a new construction method that makes them resistant to fire, floods, rot, pests, high winds and more,” the company said in a press release.
Installation is a unique kind of unboxing, as you’ll see in the clip above. Much like a cardboard box, each side of the home unfolds until the unit is complete. According to Boxabl, it only takes an hour to unpack. And for those who want more space, the Casita is vertically stackable.
“We have spent the last several years doing R&D and engineering a breakthrough solution to rapidly build high quality affordable housing. This product has the potential to improve the lives of millions of people,” said Galiano Tiramani, who works in business development at Boxabl.
The Boxabl tiny home is intended to solve housing issues like affordability, homelessness, disaster relief and sustainability. The Casita has limited availability, so be sure to reserve yours today if interested.
